Emerging Centre of Excellence

Research for human development.

VyUDIE’s Centre of Excellence in Integrated Global Health is a managed research hub — connecting university labs, expert investigators and industry, and turning science into research, product, service and policy outcomes that reach people.

Connected research.Real outcomes.Human development.
The gap we exist to close

Research dies between the lab and the market.

90%
of drug candidates entering clinical trials fail to reach the market.
ABPI · 2025
6.7%
likelihood of approval for a new Phase I drug — an all-time low.

How it works

From problem statement to translated outcome.

01

Brief

Partners bring real-world R&D challenges in global health. We scope the project, structure the IP framework and define the research pathway.

02

Mobilise

We match the brief to the right Chief Investigator, consortium labs and research capacity — managed end-to-end.

03

Deliver

Validated outputs, prototypes, publications and commercially viable IP — with clear, agreed ownership from day one.

Our research focus

Three pillars, connected by technology.

The causes of poor health are interconnected — and so is our research. A single project might span drug discovery and primary-care delivery, or connect agricultural science to nutrition policy. Technology and AI run through everything we do.

What a Centre produces

A Centre is judged by what it produces.

Research

Peer-reviewed findings, validated evidence and translational studies that move a field forward.

Product

Validated diagnostics, devices and tools — taken from concept toward real-world readiness.

Service

New models of care and delivery — designed, tested and ready to adopt at scale.

Policy

Evidence shaped for decision-makers — informing guidelines, standards and public investment.

Our investigators

Led by researchers who’ve done the work.

Every project is led by a Chief Investigator with deep domain expertise — leading end-to-end, mentoring support investigators and supervising the research workforce. They also teach across VyUDIE, so the knowledge driving live R&D flows straight into the next generation. Regulated work is conducted with accredited institutions under appropriate quality systems, with the Centre as the single point of engagement.

Convenings

Where the field comes together.

The Centre convenes researchers, clinicians, industry and policymakers around the questions that cross disciplines.

The Annual Summit

Our flagship convening on Integrated Global Health — investigators, partners and decision-makers on one stage. Inaugural edition in planning.

Policy Roundtables

Focused roundtables translating evidence into guidelines, standards and public investment decisions.

Practice Workshops

Hands-on technical workshops with partner institutions — methods, regulatory pathways and translation practice.

Why we do this

Research that becomes human development.

The point of connected research isn’t only papers and products — it’s people. Healthier communities, safer food, stronger care and real opportunity, reaching the places that need it most.
